"Urgh this place looks worse on the inside.." Darcy muttered as we walked into the hallway. Cobwebs decorated every corner, a chandelier creaked above us. "Ok.. it could do with a clean but we can make this work, can't we kids?" said my mother as my siblings were walking up the stairs "Yeaah sure.." Darcy said sarcastically as Grayson followed.
Mother looked at me with a smile, "Go pick a room hun" As I walked up the stairs I swore I could hear something.. a voice.. but as I reached the top, the voice faded. I could already hear my siblings bickering from the left so I decided to go right, so many rooms.. why would my grandmother live here all alone.. I opened the door at the end of the corrider peering inside, a single bed at the side, a desk and wardobe at the other. This would do fine, all I had with me was my clothes and some books. Yet again cobwebs decorated the corners and the room a slightly cold but I'd get used to it.
I set my suitcase on the bed as something on the desk drew my attention. A small wooden box tied with a ribbon, how strange.. before I knew it I'd pulled the ribbon and opened it, it felt like I was meant to open it, like it had been waiting there for me all this time.. As I opened the box, inside sat a key and a ring, "Hmm hmm hmm" There it is again! that voice, as I looked at the ring I felt drawn to it, just something about it, as I placed it on my right hand I felt a prick from beneath it but as I tried to take it off.. it wouldn't budge.. How could it be stuck when it fit on my finger so easily?!
"Nicky?" I hear my mother call, shit now what!? Ok Nicky stay calm.. we'll figure this out.. later, she grabbed the key before leaving the room, hearing the voice yet again "Soon.."

The Guardian: Chapter 1: A new start
In every one of my dreams I would see a stranger with silver hair watching me from a distance, I could never make out who it was or why they were there... that was until now.
I stared aimlessly out the car window, my mother at the wheel, my 2 older siblings bickering in the back. A week ago my mother had decided we would start anew, by moving in with our grandmother a bit away from the city.
"Will you two stop arguing and take in the view" My mother said as we drove out the city. "What view? There is nothing round here but fields" Mom sighed before gasping "Look, there it is!" We all looked ahead as we saw an old looking mansion.
"You can't be serious!" said my older sister Darcy "We have to live in this run down place?"
Mother ignored her, glancing over at me "What do you think, Nicky? You haven't spoke the whole ride~"
"It's.. nice" I honestly didn't know what to think of this place but it must be better then living in the city, thats for sure. Since I was a little girl I could see things.. Spirits I guess, some nice, others not so nice. The other kids at school called me a freak and bullied me to no end, my mother eventually found out after finding a threatening note in my school bag from some of the students and decided what we needed was a fresh start.
The car stopped and we all got out looking at our new home, our grandmother who was waiting for us at the front entrance, waved at us and walked down the steps to greet us. "Its so nice to see you! I'm so happy you'll be living here. Oh my look at how you two have grown!" pulling my two siblings into a hug. "Nice to see you too Gran" my brother Grayson mumbled.
"You must be Nicky!" Gran said walking over to me. I myself had never met my Grandmother, only seen pictures as I had not been born yet when Gran last saw my siblings.
"Hello" I simply said as she hugged me also. "Not much of a hugger are we?" Gran chuckled as I stared at her blankly.
Something seemed strange, I could sense something.. someone.. inside this place but what exactly? I wasn't sure if I wanted to find out..
